Dance shoots are one of my favourite photography sessions. Dancers, no matter what age or ability, have such a knack of posing their bodies and always look great on camera. I have to give very little direction as they usually know just the angle to put themselves at to look phenomenal.
I was especially excited when I was given the opportunity of doing a photoshoot with the very gorgeous Maya at my studio. Not only was she a dancer (and would therefore know how to pull off some incredible poses) but she was also super cute too.
On the day of her shoot Maya came along to the studio with her mum (Helen) and her Grandma (Catherine). It was a special day, not just because Maya was having her photographs taken but because it was also her Grandma’s birthday. We had to make this a particularly memorable occasion and the stops needed to be well and truly pulled out.
We had prosecco (Maya had orange juice of course!!) and nibbles to celebrate Grandma’s birthday and lots of fun and giggles whilst we were taking the photos. As expected, Maya was brilliant at posing and looked fantastic in all of her outfits.
I always advise clients to bring plenty of different outfits to change into. Maya had brought a ton of pretty things to wear, in a range of different colours and styles. She had all sorts of different leotards and hair accessories to choose from, which made the shoot so much easier and also meant that I could use different coloured backgrounds to compliment her items.
With Maya being so young, we stuck to a lot of seated poses, which she just pulled off so effortlessly. She had so much style and grace for a 7 year old and I really can see her being a prima ballerina when she gets older. I just hope she will still want her pictures taking by me then.
