TAKE THE TIME…..to understand your body shape

It’s fair to say that women come in all shapes and sizes and not many of us tend to be happy with the body we have been given. With that in mind; I think you may agree me when I say that, no matter what your size or shape, there is nothing nicer than getting dressed in an outfit that makes you feel good. We all have our favourite outfit that we enjoy putting on.

Clothing can make you feel great for a number of reasons. It might be down to the colour or it may be down to the flattering shape of the garment, which makes you feel happy with your body.

So how do you find clothes that are flattering for your specific body type? The first thing is to get to know your body shape.

Once you know this, choosing clothes that make you look good and feel amazing, will become much easier.

So……let’s get started:

PEAR SHAPE

(also known as the ‘TRIANGLE SHAPE’)

YOU MAY BE THIS BODY TYPE IF.....

  • Your waist is wider than your bust
  • You consider yourself to have fuller hips
  • You have narrower shoulders in comparison to your hips
  • You have a fuller rear

Pear shapes have the unique advantage of looking great in every pair of jeans imaginable and making dainty tops look even daintier with their narrower shoulders.

HOURGLASS SHAPE

(also known as the ‘CURVY SHAPE’)

YOU MAY BE THIS BODY TYPE IF.....

  • You’d describe your body as curvy
  • You have a well-defined waist
  • Your bust and hip measurements are roughly even
  • You may have fuller bust, hips, and thighs

Hourglass figures are generally the envy of almost all women. It is considered to be shapely and curvy.

In the olden days, people used to wear corsets just to obtain this shape of body. This shape is considered very feminine!

APPLE SHAPE

(also known as the ‘INVERTED TRIANGLE SHAPE’)

YOU MAY BE THIS BODY TYPE IF.....

  • You are generally well-proportioned
  • Your shoulders are broader than your hips
  • You are not necessarily as curvy through your hips
  • You don’t have a well-defined waistline (If you do, you’re likely an hourglass!)

Inverted triangles and apples can be somewhat synonymous.

Both shapes are known for their broader shoulders, but typically, true apple shapes carry a little more in their midsection while inverted triangles do not.

ATHLETIC SHAPE

(also known as the ‘RECTANGLE OR STRAIGHT SHAPE’)

YOU MAY BE THIS BODY TYPE IF.....

  • You’re not particularly curvy
  • Your shoulders and hip measurements are nearly the same
  • Your waist isn’t very small or well-defined, but rather straight up and down
  • Your weight is fairly evenly distributed throughout your body

Some consider this to be a ‘boyish’ frame. Let me tell you though; your body is strong, usually on the straight-up-and-down side, and it’s so fun to dress.

Your shape looks great in almost everything. You have the ability to flaunt or conceal as much as you feel comfortable with and with your figure, balance is easily obtained like yin and yang.

Now that you know your shape.....

Remember that everybody and every body is different. If you’re not one of these shapes—that’s ok! Let’s be honest—most women are a combination of several!

Whatever body shape you decide you are, be confident with it and love yourself for who you are.
